BREEDING PROGRAMME
The breeding programme comprises all measures that serve to advance breeding progress of the Trakehner population. Measures include, in particular, performance tests (foal examinations, mare gradings, stallion inspections, mare and stallion performance tests with remount tests, regional and national shows, tournaments); the data gathered in such tests is evaluated scientifically for documentation and reviewing of selection decisions.
In addition, the breeding directorate provides pairing advice on request. International contacts also allow for importing of various Trakehner bloodlines from abroad.
All breeding measures are based on the principle of pure breed, which permits only genes of English thoroughbred, Arabian thoroughbred, Anglo-Arabian and Shagya-Arabian to be included.
