MARE PERFORMANCE TEST

In order to reach a meaningful assessment of a mare's breeding qualities, behaviour when saddled must be examined, in addition to judging conformity and movement when lead by the reins as well as in free run. Are the qualities displayed by the mare without saddle still present when saddled? No mare can achieve the title of "Prize mare" without performance test, even if that were no problem at all on account of registered scores.

The breeding philosophy behind this is obvious: riding horses for all disciplines of leisure and competition sport can only be produced by mares who have demonstrated rideability themselves!
